Road and Airport Pavement Management

		Good pavement management requires an organized and systematic approach for planning, design, construction, maintenance and rehabilitation of roads and airport runways. Reliable evaluation and understanding of pavement performance requires accurate data collection and good understanding of pavement behavior. Our IFD offers road and airport pavement management and testing services based on international best practices.

		Structural Evaluation and Pavement Design DeflectionGrip Tester measures the skid resistance of runway pavement surface which is essential from safety perspective. The Grip Tester is a surface friction tester recognized by ICAO. It is used world-wide to accurately identify areas of poor friction and assess skid resistance after maintenance and rehabilitation works. testing using Heavyweight Deflectometers (HWD) simulates the effects of axle loads of aircrafts and measures the responses of pavement structures under aircraft loadings. The in-situ effective stiffness computed are vital engineering properties of the pavement materials and useful to determine the structural health of theÂ Â airport pavement and reporting of runway pavement strength using ACN/PCN system.

		Skid Resistance Assessment Grip Tester measures the skid resistance of runway pavement surface which is essential from safety perspective. The Grip Tester is a surface friction tester recognized by ICAO. It is used world-wide to accurately identify areas of poor friction and assess skid resistance after maintenance and rehabilitation works.

		Roughness / Ride Quality Assessment Profile measurement can be used to perform aircraft simulations. Velocity sweep on all lines of survey is used to flag rough areas and determine sensitive speeds on rough areas. The Pavement Smoothness Index (PSI) for 150m sections of pavement is then computed. This tool allows airport authorities to find out rough areas first and rectify them before pilots complain. Our IFD also provides evaluation of Ride Comfort Index (RCI) and Boeing Bump Index for airport runways.
